Course overview

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support is the nationally recognised qualification for experienced aged care workers stepping up into senior, specialised and team-leadership roles. It builds advanced person-centred care, support for people living with dementia, a palliative approach, and the skills to coordinate services and respond to older people at risk. Skilled Care delivers it on the job, over around 12 months or sooner, as an employer-sponsored pathway.

How it's delivered

How long does the Certificate IV in Ageing Support take?
12 months, full-time or part-time, or sooner.
What are the entry requirements?
Nationally there is no prerequisite, so you do not need a Certificate III to enrol. You will need a Working With Vulnerable People Check (incl. national police check) and to be working or volunteering in an aged care role for workplace assessment. In Queensland, you must already hold CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support.
How many work placement hours are required?
At least 120 hours of supervised work placement.
What roles can it lead to?
Senior Personal Care Worker, Care Team Leader or Supervisor, Care Coordinator, and dementia and palliative support roles.
How much does it cost, and is funding available?
It is delivered as an employer-sponsored traineeship, and paid traineeship pathways may be available. Enquire to check your eligibility.
