Trainee Support
As an aged care trainee, stepping into your first aged care role and completing your qualification, support is essential to your success. Our Support Team will support you every step of the way. From attaining your qualification to on-the-job workplace support and guidance, the Skilled Care Support Team will guide you through every step.
Attain CHC33021 - Certificate III in Individual Support
Our Aged Care Traineeship program offers the opportunity to a Nationally Accredited Certificate III in Individual Support. This comprehensive qualification comprises 13 modules and can be completed in
12 months with full-time study (38 hours per week) or over 24 months with part-time study (15 hours per week).
Hands-on experience is just as important as theoretical knowledge, which is why our program includes work placement opportunities and ongoing mentorship from our experienced staff. Join our traineeship program and gain the skills and qualifications you need to succeed in the exciting and rewarding field of aged care.
As this program is funded by your employer, there are no course fees for students giving you the ability to Earn While You Learn.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If you have prior experience as an aged care worker or in a related field, or successful completion of units accredited in the course, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This process assesses your existing skills and knowledge and allows you to gain recognition for the work you've already done. By applying for RPL, you can shorten the length of your traineeship and start your career in aged care sooner. Complete Your Placement Hours On-the-Job
All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work experience in a regulated aged care facility to be deemed competent for Certificate III in Individual Support Ageing. With Skilled Care’s aged care trainees pathway, your 120 hours of work experience is attained on the job and paid for by your employer! If you are ready to jump into a care career, our aged care traineeship pathway provides you with everything you need to get started, with your qualification fees paid for and a strong support system every step of the way.
Eligibility Requirements
Eligible trainees will be required to complete and pass a Working With Vulnerable People Check (including a national police check) in the state or territory that they are working in prior to commencing work in this field.Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.

CHC33021 – Certificate III in Individual Support is a nationally recognised qualification that provides a comprehensive understanding of the aged care industry and the skills necessary to provide high-quality support to elderly individuals. Graduates of this program will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills to work in a variety of settings, including residential care facilities, community care organisations, and in-home care services as an aged care support worker. Delivered by Skilled Care, an industry recognised RTO (Registered Training Organisation) you will have access to the latest training materials and on-the-job learning experiences.
Successful trainees will not only graduate with a nationally recognised qualification but will be exposed to a number of workplace opportunities and job offers.

Depending upon your previous job experience and qualifications, we will place you with a suitable aged care provider where you can gain on-the-job training and qualifications as an Aged Care Support Worker or Home Care Worker. After you are Cert III qualified, aged care traineeship jobs are available in both residential aged care and community care sectors, so you are sure to find jobs in aged care that suit your skills and experience. You may also work in in-home care roles, where you provide personal care to the elderly in their own homes.
Yes, all successful applicants will require a current first aid certificate to undertake the traineeship and to apply for aged care traineeship jobs.
You need to have all COVID-19 mandatory vaccines and be fully vaccinated to be able to work in the aged care sector. We will provide you with more information on this when you apply for aged care traineeship jobs.
There is no qualification or course fee for trainee personal care workers or aged care trainees under the Skilled Care Aged Care Traineeship Program.
Yes, all applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents to apply for the aged care traineeship.
Your well-being is our priority. We provide our personal care and aged care trainees with full support throughout their entire traineeship journey. Our dedicated team is always available to answer your questions and guide you through the process. We also provide information sessions and ongoing training so that you have the satisfaction knowing that you are equipped with the skills, qualifications and knowledge you need to succeed.
Successful applicants will need to be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week up to full-time to successfully complete our traineeship program. Once you have progressed through the course, a flexible schedule, that is full-time or part-time, may become available depending upon the care facility or similar residential facility setting where you complete your training.
The exact amount of your take-home pay will depend upon the award that applies to your employment and the facility in which you work. We will provide more information on this when you apply for aged care traineeship jobs.
Experienced qualified nurses may be exempt from completing the aged care traineeship. You will need to apply for RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) and provide evidence of your experience and qualifications to be considered for the traineeship.
