To work as an aged care worker, you will need to have at least a high school certificate. Depending upon the role and organisation, you may need complete additional training or certification programs in which Skilled Care can provide access to necessary training.

To prepare for successful employment in aged care that allows you to work across the sector, you will need a Certificate III in Individual Support. Many employers will pay for your studies while you work and complete your training.

This qualification is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide personal care and support to individuals in the aged care sector. It covers a wide range of topics, including:

  1. Providing personal care, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming

  2. Assisting with mobility and exercise

  3. Providing emotional support and companionship

  4. Assisting with daily living activities

  5. Providing support to individuals with disabilities

  6. Understanding and respecting diversity and individual rights

  7. Maintaining accurate records and documentation

In addition to Certificate III in Individual Support, you may also be required to have additional qualifications or certifications, such as first aid and CPR, food handling and hygiene, and medication administration. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work as part of a team, and facilitate family services are also important for success in this field.

A Certificate III in Individual Support is a nationally accredited qualification that provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to work in the aged care and disability sectors. The course covers a wide range of topics, including:
